Mr. Daniel Obaseki is the Founder and Managing Partner of Elevation Food Partners LLC (London, UK / Lagos, Nigeria), an operating company with a sole focus on developing platform agribusiness/food companies in key markets across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Mr. Obaseki was the Vice President of Proterra Investment Partners (Formerly Black River Asset Management) London, UK / Lagos, Nigeria, a natural-resources focused private equity firm with $2.1 billion of capital under management, investing primarily in growth equity investments across three strategies: agribusiness/food, agriculture, and metals/mining. Proterra is a spin-out of the private equity business of Black River Asset Management, a wholly-owned, but independently-managed subsidiary of Cargill Inc. HE co-founded and co-led the Sub-Saharan Africa strategy for Proterra’s second Food Fund vintage (c.$700mm in AUM); focus countries included: South Africa, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, and Uganda. He served on Board of Directors for portfolio companies
Mr. Obaseki had stints at International Finance Corporation Washington, DC where he was an Investment Analyst, Global Infrastructure & Natural Resources (Oil & Gas) and Tradewinds Global Investors, Los Angeles, CA, a global investment management firm with $35 billion in assets under management. At Tradewinds, he was Senior Associate, Global Natural Resources (Oil, Gas, Mining, Commodities).
Mr. Obaseki holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Philosophy from DARTMOUTH COLLEGE Hanover, NH. He was Energy Sector Head, Dartmouth Student Investment Fund ($500k in capital). He also holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Cambridge, MA.
