Production Operations

The production operations of the company are carried out at the following units:

PLANTS OPERATIONS IN JOS, KANO & ONITSHA:

• JOS PLANT:

(a). ANIMAL FEEDS – OIL MILL, FEED MILL, CEREAL MILL

• • GCL invested close to seven hundred million naira (N700, 000,000) to acquire the state-of-the-art poultry feed milling facility, the first of its kind in West Africa, commissioned in 2004 with 12,000 tons/month ultra-modern fully automated capacity. Another 5,000 tons/month capacity was added in 2009
  • Incorporated in the feed plant is the concentrate/premix plant
  • The feed mill is capable of processing bran and cake from its oil mill, processing pelletized poultry feed, cow, pig and horse feed
  • The high-tech plant has a lot of impressive features, such as:
    • Computer controlled batch production process; ensures accuracy/precision of all raw materials, vitamins and minerals thereby eliminating human errors
    • Reduces loss of time in manual weighing process
    • Automated micronutrients dosing facility to guarantee consistent quality
    • Dust free milling environment reduces hazard to employees and community
    • Ability to pelletize two different types of feed simultaneously
    • Environment and user-friendly equipment/ machineries, an ultra-modern premix plant
    • Also equipped with strategic silos capable of holding 16,000 tonnes of grains
  • Jos animal feed operations also boasts of a modern, advanced extruder technology fish feed plant, with 3 tons/hour capacity which was commissioned in 2011 and was upgraded to deliver our pet food product line since 2014

 (b). CONSUMER PRODUCTS:

• CEREAL MILL:
  • Capable of processing maize into flour grits, consumer products and offal as byproduct.
  • Has the capacity to clean sorghum for industrial use.
• OIL MILL:
  • Capable of processing groundnuts, soya beans, palm kernel and cotton seeds into high-quality groundnut oil, soya oil, cotton seed, deodorized groundnut oil, cake, soap stock and lecithin
• BFC & CORNFLAKES PLANT:
  • Capacity – An 1800 tons per year cornflakes plant in installed in 2016
  • A new breakfast cereals plant

2. KANO PLANT:

• Leased from Gerawa Feed Mill Kano in 2007 to ensure delivery of quality products faster to our key customers/markets in Kano and other North West markets
• Capacity – 5,000 tons/month

3. ONITSHA PLANT:

• Capacity – 2 Feed mills;
  • Poultry Feed Mill: a modern, 20,000 tons/month capacity that was installed in 2013 to produce pelletized poultry feed
  • Fish Feed Plant: A 5 tons/per hour modern and advanced extruder fish feed plant commissioned in March 2019
  • Oil Mill: Also produced from Onitsha to serve the Southern & Western Markets
